An interesting and attractive Bowie knife, likely of 20th century origin, measuring 16 1/4" overall. The 2 1/2" wide 11 1/4" blade has a 4 1/2" clipped point. The unique brass guard is made from a US M1851 sword belt plate. The grip is shaped bone that appears to be held on with a single rivet. No sheath. CONDITION: blade has an overall dark patina with a few shallow nicks to the edge. Brass guard has a mellow mustard patina. Bone grip has an overall dark finish.
