Cal. 31. S# 141332. Bbl. 6" oct. w/ sm. brass cone style front sight & New York address. Five shot rnd. cyl. w/ stage coach scene roll engraving. Blue finish w/ case colored action having silver finished backstrap & sm. triggerguard. Left side of triggerguard has "M" inspector's mark. One piece walnut grip has last 4 digits of S# in backstrap channel. Bbl., frame, grip straps, loading lever & wedge have matching numbers. Cyl. is numbered "141232", 100 lower than other parts, likely an assembly mistake. Serial numbers below 280,000 were mfg. prior to Dec. 1865 during the American Civil War. CONDITION: fine, retaining over 70% dull, fading bbl. & cyl. blue. Action retains 70% lightly visible case colors. Grip straps have 70% silver finish w/ a dark tarnish. Grips show light wear & handling marks. Strong mechanics. Bore retains strong rifling showing sm. spots of light pitting. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Kenneth Horn (Grandson of JC Higgins).
