REVOLVER. Cal. 36. S# 174030. Bbl. 7 1/2" octagon bbl. with brass bead sight. Top strap has New York address. 6-shot rnd. cyl. with Texas naval scene roll engraving. Blue and case colored finish with nickel finished brass back strap and large brass trigger guard. Bbl., frame, grip straps, and cyl. have matching #s. 1-piece walnut grip. Mfg. in 1863. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: leather flap holster. Belt loop is stamped "E. GAYLARD/ CHICOPEE/ MASS". Holster remains malleable, showing age related cracking and crazing overall, with a tear present at the rear edge of the closure strap. CONDITION: metal has largely faded to mottled gray showing scattered spots of pitting, handling marks, and small dents. Cyl. retains faint traces of scene. Brass back strap and trigger guard are cleaned bright. Sanded and refinished grip shows remaining light dents and marks. Action functions properly when hand cycled, cyl. shows slight play. Action has some replacement screws. Dark lightly pitted bore with intact rifling. (01-27187/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
