Cal. 44. SN. 16741. Bbl. 8" round w/ blade sight. Round rebated 6 shot cyl. originally had naval engagement scene roll engraving. Action has provisions for shoulder stock attachment. Bbl., frame grip straps & cyl have matching numbers. Wedge has non matching number 0219. Inspector initial "O" is found before or after SN on major parts. Walnut 1 piece grip, right panel has carved initial "J". Mfg. 1861 during the American civil war. CONDITION: Metal has faded to brown showing spots of light pitting. Brass trigger has faint traces of plating. Cyl shows a few dents, scene is not visible. Grips show heavy wear w/ dents & scrapes having chips at toe. Functioning action has light main spring tension. Dark lightly pitting before retains intact rifling. (01-25378/DS). ANTIQUE. $1250-1750.
