REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Colt CF. S# 184548. Bbl. 8" round w/ New York address & blade front sight. Ejector housing is fitted on left side. Six shot round rebated conversion cyl. w/ naval scene roll engraving. Second model w/ Richards style ejector having Richards-Mason style conversion plate & hammer. Left side of frame has 1871-72 patent dates. Nickel finish w/ silver finished black trigger guard. Bbl., frame, grip straps & cyl. have matching numbers. Wedge is unnumbered. 1 piece walnut grip. About 9,000 converted 1871-78. CONDITION: iron parts retain 60% nickel finish w/ backstrap & cyl. having turned brown. Brass trigger guard shows a small amount of silver finish w/ a black tarnish. Areas around wedge show numerous small dents. Cyl. retains nicely visible scene. Sanded & refinished grips show numerous dents & marks w/ numerous chips at toe. Functioning action has stiff operation. Pitted bore retains largely intact rifling w/ evidence of a light ring approx. 1 1/2" from muzzle. (01-25168/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,250-3,000.
