Cal. 44 RF. S# 1524. Bbl. 7 1/2" round w/ New York address. Features include right side ejector, brass blade front sight & fixed V notch rear sight. Six shot round cyl. w/ naval scene engraving. Left side of action has 1871 & 1872 patent dates. Brass trigger guard, 1 piece walnut army size grips. Bbl., frame, grip straps & cyl. have matching numbers. Wedge is unnumbered. Total of about 7,000 were mfg. 1872-73. CONDITION: protected areas of bbl. retain some faded blue. Balance of gun is fading to gray/brown showing spots of light pitting. Area around wedge & ejector housing shows numerous small dents. Cyl. retains very good scene. Brass grip strap has acquired a nice patina & shows traces only of silver plating. Grips show heavy wear w/ dents & handling marks having chips at toe. Sound action. Brass blade front sight has been thinned & lowered. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling. (01-25166/DS).
