Cal. 45 Colt. S# 48051. Bbl is 6". 6-shot long flute cyl. Military variation of the model 1878 Frontier revolver. Elongated trigger and oversize triggerguard to allow better leverage for double action firing. Blue finish. Right side of frame below cyl is stamped "U.S." with "J.T.T." inspector mark above the grips. Left side has inspector mark "R.A.C." above the grips and above the forward of the triggerguard. 2pc checkered hard rubber round butt grips with lanyard loop at butt. Manufacture date 1901. CONDITION: 40% dull fading blue showing scattered spots of corrosion and very light pitting. Grips show substantial wear and have a faded light brown color. Sound action. Bore is generally bright with lightly worn rifling. (25-1151/DS). CURIO. $800-1,200.
