Cal. 45 ACP. S# 701291 (1924). Per "US. AUTOMATIC PISTOLS 1924-1945" by Edward Scott Meadows, this pistol originally was shipped to Springfield Armory Feb 7th, 1924 within S# block 701,001-702,000. Correct features include: 5" Colt Type 5 barrel, Colt Type 3 fully checkered walnut grips, Type C hammer, Type C safety lock tab, Type B slide lock, long tang grip safety, Type 3 arched mainspring housing, Type 2 mainspring housing pin, short 1911A1 trigger, Type 3 recoil spring plug, Type B recoil spring guide, Type B front & rear sights. Frame has finger clearance cuts & "WTG" inspector initials. "H" provisional acceptable mark on frame & slide. Slide doe not have S# beneath firing pin plate. MAGS: 2 two tone 7 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: repro. 1911A1 box. CONDITION: Exterior surfaces of pistol has reblued finish showing scratches, wear & marks. Firing pin plate has unusually tight fit to slide. Very good grips. Fair barrel blue showing significant loss from function; bore has strong lands with pitting in the grooves concentrated forward of the chamber. (24-1523/MD). $2,250-3,500.
