REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. S# 75647. Referred to by Colt as Single Action without ejector assemblies. These desirable revolvers are known to collectors as "Sheriff's Models" or "Storekeepers Models". Bbl. 3 1/2" Round with blade front sight. 6 Shot fluted cyl. This is s second style black powder Sherifs's Model frame. Page 69 of "A Study Of The Colt Single Action Army Revolver" by Graham, Kopec & Moore states "It is believed that this type of frame was manufactured by grinding or milling away the ejector house receptacle of regular SAA frames". Page 67 of the above mentioned book states "Ejectorless Single Actions having Serial number below 77,000 have been reported" & "No production or shipping records for these revolvers nor any of the others, have been discovered; so we are unable to relate facts regarding authenticity of Sheriff's Models below the 77,000 SNR". Blue & case colored finish. 1 Piece walnut grips. Mfg. 1882. CONDITION: barrel retains 70% dull lightly faded blue. Cyl. has fading blue showing scattered light pitting & corrosion. Frame retains 70% light & fading case colors that appear to be original Grip straps have faded to brown / gray patina. Heavily sanded & refinished grips are undersize showing dents & handling marks with chips at toe. Sound action. Bore retains strong rifling. (01-21619/DS). ANTIQUE. $8,000-12,000.
