SAA revolver manufactured in 44 Special are especially scarce with total production in all configurations amounting to only 2,075 revolvers. Blued bbl, 6-shot fluted cyl. & grip frame. Blade front sight. Case hardened frame. 2-pc hard rubber Colt grips. REFERENCE: page 46 of "The Post War Colt Single Action Revolver 1955-1975" by Don Wilkerson states 763 revolvers were mfg. in this configuration. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black hinged factory box w/ correct end label in fair condition. Colt factory letter stating the following: "Serial Number: 24702-SA / Caliber: .44/C / Barrel length: 7-1/2" / Finish: Blue / Type of stocks: not listed / Shipped to: D.E. Satterfield / Address: 201 Orange St. Ashland, Ohio / Date of Shipment: February 26, 1959 / Number of same type guns in shipment: 1". CONDITION: overall very good. Barrel & cylinder retain 90%+ blue w/ light muzzle wear, scattered scratches & cylinder drag line. Top left side of sight has small area of flattening to edge. Grip strap shows areas of thinning finish & freckling. Notable area of thinning inside trigger guard forward of trigger. Frame retains very strong original case hardened finish. Both sides of hammer show areas of light freckling. Very good grips, right grip has small chip at toe near frame. Near excellent shiny bore. (22-6031/BH). CURIO. $2,500-4,000.
