Cal. 44. S# 9175. Bbl. 7 ½” round with octagon shank. Top flat is marked “ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY”. 6 Shot round cylinder has distinctive rectangular cylinder stops slots. Texas Ranger in Indian fight scene roll engraving was used. Left side of frame is marked “COLT’S/PATENT/U.S.” Brass square back trigger guard with brass backstrap and one piece walnut grips. Bbl., frame, grip straps, cylinder, loading lever and spindle have matching serial numbers. Unmarked wedge appears to be replacement. Inspectors mark “K” is found below serial number on trigger guard. Approximately 2700 mfg. 1850 – 1851. CONDITION: metal finish has faded to mottled gray showing substantial wear with scattered very light pitting. Cylinder retains traces of scene. Brass parts show wear and handling marks with a mottled aged patina. Grips show heavy wear with handling marks having chips at toe. Bore retains intact rifling showing scattered pitting.
