REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Spl. S# 6814-LW. The Aircrewman was designed as a lightweight revolver for Air Force personnel w/ alloy frame & cyl. Due to ruptured cyls. the majority were destroyed in the late 1950's. Examples in original condition are very scarce today. Bbl. 2" w/ serrated ramp front sight. Left side of bbl. stamped "AIRCREWMAN" above cal. marking. Backstrap is marked "PROPERTY OF U.S. AIR FORCE". Butt of gun marked "A.F. No. 1055". 6 Shot fluted aluminum cyl. Aluminum frame has rampant colt marking on sideplate. 2 Piece checkered walnut grips w/ silver Air Force medallions. Back of left grip panel marked "5". CONDITION: alloy frame & cyl. retain over 80% anodized finish showing edge & carry wear. Bbl. retains 80% blue showing muzzle wear. Grips have lightly worn finish showing scattered dents & handling marks. Bore is bright w/ near excellent rifling. (21-2958/DS). CURIO. $8,500-13,500.
