Cal. 38 Special. S# 487223. Bbl. 4". Army Special double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1923. Left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT", followed by "ARMY/ SPECIAL", and "38", with Colt's mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece "COLT" checkered black hard rubber grips. Grips are inscribed with the full S# on the interior of the panels, with the left panel's number having been defaced at one time. Half-moon blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as some spots of light surface oxidation overall. Right side of the frame exhibits a cleaned area of oxidation. Very bright bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-5660/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
