ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 440-40. S# 229173. Bbl. 4 3/4". Bisley Model Frontier Six Shooter single action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1902. The left side of bbl. is marked "(BISLEY MODEL)/ COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER", with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's patent information, followed by the encircled Rampant Colt logo. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, with most markings now being only partially legible. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt checkered brown hard rubber grips. Blade front sight, with "V" frame notched rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Cyl. is unnumbered. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, some spots of light surface oxidation, as well as a few small spots of light pitting beneath the finish. Bore exhibits mild to moderate pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips show heavy smoothing and scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (25-2/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
