Cal. 455 Eley. S# 70973. Bbl. 5 1/2" w/ tapered blade sight & corresponding frame notch. Mfg. 1914 (1888-1944) w/ checkered Colt hard rubber grips & lanyard swivel at butt. 1 of 55,000 British contract revolvers w/ Colt proof but no British proofs. Early variation w/ checkered squared cyl. latch. Smooth faced blued trigger & checkered hammer w/ bright sides. Smooth grip straps. Long 2 groove knurled ejector rod head designed to limit rearward movement of ejector to coincide w/ short British cartridge. CONDITION: areas of high point wear throughout being most visible at muzzle & on cyl. that also has a turn line. Slight peppery oxidation near muzzle & around edges of 1 cyl. flute. Thinning in grip area; just beginning to take on a brown tone. Near excellent bore, chamber & grips. Face of cyl., face of recoil shield & absence of firing residue appears almost unfired.
