Cal. 45 Colt. S# 114344. Bbl. 7 1/2". "A study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver" by Graham Kopec and Moore describes "overrun" revolvers in chapter XII. Overrun revolvers are those with fully inspected frames with or without the "US" on the left side. After military orders were completed excess inspected frames were built into revolvers for the civilian market. The book states "these few examples we believe are very rare". This rare revolver has "D.F.C." Inspection marks referring to sub inspector David F Clark on the bbl., frame and cylinder.Grip straps have inspectors mark "G". Left side of frame is not "US" marked. Frame, grip straps, and cylinder have matching numbers. Loading gate is numbered "792". One piece walnut grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt Archive Properties letter listing the following information: "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER, Serial Number: 114344, Caliber: .45/c, Bbl. Length, 7 1/2", Finish: Blue, Type of Stocks: Not Listed, Shipped To: Kennedy & Curtis, Address: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Date of Shipment: October 6, 1888, Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 10". CONDITION: metal has a cleaned gray appearance showing scattered spots of corrosion. Grips show wear and handling marks. Action is sound. Dark lightly pitted bore shows scattered light pitting.
