Matching S# "9225" is found on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Cyl. has partially visible matching S# "9225". Loading gate shows assembly # "567". 1-piece walnut grip. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter stating "Serial Number: 9225/ Caliber: .45 Eley/ Barrel Length: Not Listed/ Special Notation: "Short Barrel"/ Shipped to: Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Mfg. Company/ London Agency/ Address: London, England/ Date of Shipment: June 8, 1874/ Number of Same Type/ Guns in Shipment: 100". Box contains 24-rds. of .455 ammo. 20 are brass cases with Eley headstamps. 4 early cartridges have unmarked steel rims, 1 of these has a dented primer. CONDITION: metal has faded gray appearance showing heavy wear with scattered pitting. Bbl. markings are obliterated. Receiver and cyl. markings are substantially weakened. Heavily sanded grips are undersized having an age darkened appearance with numerous handling marks and chips at the toe. Action shows heavy wear, missing 2 clicks when the action is cycled. Cyl. shows excessive side and end play. Dark lightly pitted bore with worn rifling. Leather cartridge box remains pliable showing age darkening and cracking finish.
