EARLY NATIONAL MATCH SLIDE. Cal. 45 ACP. S# C153621. Bbl. is 5" marked "COLT 45 AUTO / MATCH" above left leg plus circled "MB" on left leg. Shipped November 20, 1928 as 1 of 2 firearms to am Camp Hardware & Iron Company of Indianapolis per August 2012 factory letter listing it as Government Model as on frame; slide has "NATIONAL MATCH" markings. Under firing pin retainer having squared bottom edge is matching slide #. Government Model slide profile w/ taller serrated faced front sight & corresponding Stevens adj. rear. Top of frame by disconnector stamped "S". Fully checkered walnut grips. Left front of trigger guard has VP proof & "1". Opposite side has "51". Slide stop & safety tab are both checkered w/out undercuts. Checkered arched mainspring housing w/out lanyard provision. Noticeably tight & smooth slide to frame fit. Front edge of spring guide rounded more than on Government Models plus hand tuned light target trigger pull utilizing short milled trigger w/ checkered face. First National Match produced February 1932; most likely this slide fitted by Colt to a customer's earlier frame. Of all early National Match Colts only about 1/3 had adj. sights. MAGS: 1 very good to excellent 7 rd. w/ "COLT / 45 AUTO." on base. Spots of peppery oxidation at base of spine & rear of floorplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory letter as referenced above. CONDITION: near excellent in all respects including grips & bore. (22-3116/NW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
