Cal. 357 Mag. S# E8492. Bbl. 4" vent ribbed with blued, dual pinned, ramped serrated blade front plus full under lug. Frame mounted blued Colt Accro rear sight. Mfg. 1970 (1955-1996) as most recognizable and desired "Snake" revolver having electroless hard chrome finish that appears to be Armaloy. Very durable plating that creates extremely hard surfaces plus it increases lubricity and decreases wear. Plating is very thin and often bores were plated as well to facilitate cleaning. Popular alteration during the 1970's to give the appearance of stainless with notable advantages. Early promotions for this plating showed that it was more resistant to salt water spray than stainless. Also, at the time hard chrome was popular, stainless firearms were generally not offered; Pythons in stainless did not appear until 1983. Pachmayr Signature style checkered rubber grips with gold Colt medallions. Serrated faced trigger plus oval large spur checkered hammer. CONDITION: numerous notable rub marks that show as bright spots, but hard chrome remains (characteristic of hard chrome finishes). Sights have light finish loss at high points; all other aspects near excellent including bore and grips. (25-5002/NW). CURIO. $900-1,400.
