REVOLVER WITH CUSTOM PERIOD HOLSTER. Cal. 31. S# 106515. Bbl. 4". Model 1849 Pocket single action percussion revolver mfg. by Colt in 1855. The top flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked with Colt's address, with "COLTS/ PATENT" marked on the left side of the frame. Cyl. is engraved with Colt's stagecoach scene. Silver plated brass trigger guard and rear grip strap has been gently cleaned at one time. 1-piece smooth wood grip. Matching numbers are present on the frame, cyl., cyl. base pin, bbl., bbl. wedge, loading lever, trigger guard, as well as on the rear grip strap. Frame hammer screw appears to be a replacement. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked handmade period brown leather holster. CONDITION: metal components exhibit a gray patina, with scattered areas of dark discoloration and pitting present overall. Dark pitted bore, exhibiting fair rifling throughout. Grip straps retain fair to good amounts of its silver plated finish, with exposed brass areas exhibiting scattered spots of darker discoloration. Grip shows scattered marks and impressions, with a chip present on either side of the grip. Leather holster remains malleable, exhibiting age related cracking and crazing, with the leather cord having torn on the left side towards the toe. (01-24458/MLW). ANTIQUE. $500-800.
