REVOLVER. Cal. 31. S# 227427. Bbl. 4". Model 1849 Pocket single action percussion revolver mfg. by Colt in 1863. Top flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked with Colt's New York address, with "COLTS/ PATENT" stamped on the left side of the frame. Cyl. is engraved with Colt's stagecoach scene. Brass trigger guard and rear grip strap with 1-piece smooth wood grip. All numbers are matching and include the frame, cyl. base pin, cyl., bbl. wedge, bbl., loading lever, trigger guard, as well as the rear grip strap. CONDITION: iron components retain traces of their original factory finish, with the balance exhibiting a mottled gray patina, with areas of light to mild pitting present overall. Brass trigger guard and backstrap appear to have been cleaned at one time, retaining traces of their original silver plated finish. Bore exhibits moderate pitting and retains strong rifling throughout. Action functions and indexes properly when cycled by hand. Grip shows scattered marks overall and numerous dings and impressions on the butt, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (01-25281/MLW). ANTIQUE. $700-1,000.
