REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 40284. Bbl. 8". Model 1860 Army single action percussion revolver mfg. by Colt in 1862. The top of the bbl. faintly exhibits Colt's single line address. Left side of frame is stamped "COLTS/ PATENT". Frame, slotted rear grip strap (for shoulder stock), cyl., bbl. have been re-nickeled. Brass trigger guard with 1-piece smooth wood grip, which has been sanded and revarnished at one time. Matching numbers are present on the frame, cyl. base pin, bbl., trigger guard, and backstrap. Bbl. wedge is mismatched. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied nickel plated finish, exhibiting some mild wear, oxidation, and spots of discoloration, with some areas of pitting present beneath the finish. Brass trigger guard has been cleaned at one time, exhibiting areas of darker discoloration overall. Bore is bright, as refinished, exhibiting moderate pitting and good rifling throughout. Grips exhibit scattered marks from handling and storage, with the losses present at the forward corners of the butt. (01-24480/MLW). ANTIQUE. $500-900.
