REVOLVER WITH CASE & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 44. S# 71794. Bbl. 8". Model 1860 Army single action percussion revolver mfg. by Colt in 1862. Top of bbl. is marked with Colt's single line New York address, with "COLT'S/ PATENT" stamped on the left side of the frame. Cyl. is engraved with a naval scene. Iron construction with brass trigger guard and iron rear grip strap with slot for a shoulder stock attachment. 1-piece smooth wood grip. German silver blade front sight with hammer notched rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame, cyl. base pin, cyl., bbl., trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Bbl. wedge is numbered to match. Bbl. wedge screw is a contemporary replacement. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: wood display case containing 1 tin of Remington Arms Company percussion caps, 1 tin of Hicks' percussion caps, 1 bullet mold, 2 reproduction packs of lead swaged ball ammunition, as well as a bag a projectiles. CONDITION: iron components exhibit a gray patina overall, with some scattered areas of light to mild pitting. Brass trigger guard has been cleaned at one time. Bore exhibits scattered areas of moderate dark pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grip shows some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable.
