REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 55833. Bbl. 7 7/8". Model 1860 Army single action percussion revolver, mfg. by Colt in 1862. Address on top of the bbl. is no longer legible. Cyl. is engraved with Colt's naval engagement scene. Brass trigger guard with a slotted iron rear grip strap. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece smooth wood grip. Original brass blade front sight has been ground down to a diminutive blade sight. All numbers are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, rear grip strap, cyl., cyl. base pin, bbl., as well as the bbl. wedge. CONDITION: metal components have been cleaned at one time, remaining "in the white," with scattered spots of surface oxidation and light to mild pitting present overall. Brass trigger guard exhibits a mottled brown patina. Very bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of mild pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action functions and cyl. indexes appropriately when cycled by hand. Grip shows some chipping at the front edges of the butt, as well as some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (01-25448/MLW).
