REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 92370. Bbl. 8". Model 1860 Army single action percussion revolver, mfg. by Colt in 1863. Top of the bbl. is marked "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-". Cyl. is engraved with Colt's naval engagement scene. Brass trigger guard with a slotted iron rear grip strap. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece smooth wood grip. Brass blade front sight with hammer notched rear sight. Nearly all numbers are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cyl, cyl. base pin, and bbl. Bbl. wedge is mismatched, being numbered "2849". CONDITION: iron components exhibit a heavy gray-brown patina, with surface oxidation present overall. Brass trigger guard exhibits a mellow mottled patina. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and areas of dark pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action cycles appropriately, but the hammer does not lock into the half-cock or full-cock position. Grip exhibits some chipping along the front corners of the butt, as well as some scattered superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable.
