REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 102228. Bbl. 8". Model 1860 Army single-action percussion revolver mfg. by Colt in 1863. Top of the bbl. is marked with Colt's single line address. Left side of the frame is marked "COLTS PATENT." Cyl. is engraved with Colt's naval engagement scene. Brass trigger guard with slotted iron back strap. Right side of bbl. is stamped with an "H" inspection proof. Rear grip strap is marked with a "D" inspection proof, which is also present on the brass trigger guard. Cyl. is stamped with a "G" and an "H" inspection proof. Frame is mounted with a one-piece, smooth wood grip, which features a partially visible cartouche on either side. Matching numbers are present on the frame, bbl., trigger guard, rear grip strap, cyl. base pin, and cyl. Wedge is mismatched, and the loading lever appears to be a replacement. CONDITION: iron components retain a gray patina, with scattered areas of light to mild pitting, as well as scattered spots of age-related discoloration overall. Brass trigger guard has been cleaned at one time and exhibits a light patina overall. Fair bore, exhibiting scattered areas of dark pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grip shows scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, with a large chip present on the bottom left corner on the left side. (01-26067/MLW). ANTIQUE. $700-1,100.
