Cal. 44. S# 35476. Bbl 8". Model 1860 Army manufactured by Colt in 1862. New York address is stamped over the top of the barrel, with "COLTS/ PATENT" on the left side of the frame. Rebated cylinder bears a roll engraved naval scene. Iron backstrap cut for detachable shoulder stock accessory. Barrel wedge exhibits a thing brass plate to at the rear for a tighter fit. Frame is mounted with a 1 piece smooth wood grip. Matching numbers are present on the frame, cylinder, cylinder pin, barrel, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Wedge is mismatched. CONDITION: metal components exhibit a gray patina overall with scattered spots of pitting overall. Bore exhibits pitting and strong rifling throughout. Brass exhibits areas of dark brown patina. Grip shows scattered marks and impressions from storage and handling, with a couple small losses present on the butt, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (01-23584/MLW). ANTIQUE. $700-1,000.
