Cal. 44. S#. 75299. Bbl. 8" round with New York address & German silver blade sight. 6 shot rebated cyl. has naval engagement scene engraving. Original finish was blue & case colored with silver finished brass trigger guard. Major parts have "B", "M", or "H" inspector initials. Bbl., frame, grip straps, cyl., & wedge has matching numbers. Action is cut for shoulder stock attachment. 1 piece walnut grip. Right panel has hand carved diamond near butt with 3 notches along backstrap. Mfg. in 1862 during the American Civil War. CONDITION: Metal parts have a faded gray appearance showing scratches & small dents. Cyl. retains 30% lightly visible scene. Brass trigger guard has acquired a mild patina. Refinished grips show handling marks. Sound action. Bore retains strong rifling with some pitting near the muzzle. PROVENANCE: Marshall "Brook" Davis Collection. (02-23539/DS). ANTIQUE. $1200-1800
