SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 38 RF. S# 1746. Bbl 4 1/2". Model 1862 Pocket Navy conversion single action revolver chambered in .38 Rimfire manufactured by Colt in 1874. The top flat of the barrel is stamped with Colt's single line address, with "PAT.JULY.25,1871./ PAT.JULY.2,1872." stamped on the left side of the frame. Rebated cylinder features a roll engraved stagecoach scene. Iron frame, cylinder, barrel, and hammer, with a brass trigger guard and rear grip strap. Frame is mounted with a 1 piece smooth wood grip. Matching numbers are present on the frame, cylinder, barrel, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Loading gate is numbered "1239", with the cylinder base pin appearing to be possible mis-stamped at the factory with number "1236". Barrel wedge is numbered "4439". CONDITION: iron components retain traces of their original nickel plated finish, with the balance exhibiting a mottled dark gray patina, with some striations from former cleaning, and a couple scattered areas of mild pitting. Brass components exhibit a pleasing mellow patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting scattered pitting and strong rifling throughout. Wood grip shows some scattered marks and minor impressions from storage and handling, as well as some mild wear to the varnish, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable.
