Cal. 38 RF. S# 316736. Bbl 3 1/2". Model 1862 Police/Navy Conversion single action pistol manufactured by Colt between 1873-1880 from remaining percussion parts and components, with newly produced barrels. Top of barrel bears traces of Colt's 2 line address, with the left side of the framing being stamped with Colt's patent information. Left side of trigger guard is stamped "31 CAL", with the "1" having been overstamped by an "8". Rebated rim is engraved with a stagecoach scene. Frame is mounted with a 1 piece smooth wood grip. Matching numbers are present on the frame, cylinder, barrel, trigger guard, and butt. CONDITION: metal components retain traces of their original factory nickel finish, with the balance exhibiting a gray patina overall, with some scattered spots of pitting. Bore exhibits pitting and good rifling throughout. Grips show scattered marks from handling and storage, with some mild losses to the varnish and some losses at the corners.
