REVOLVER. Cal. 36. S# 23464. Bbl. 5 1/2". Model 1862 Police single action percussion revolver mfg. by Colt in 1862. Top of the rnd. bbl. is marked with Colt's single line address. Left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/ PATENT". Left side of the trigger guard is marked "36 CAL", with "7" stamped on the forward trigger guard web. Cyl. is marked with patent information within one of the flutes. Brass trigger guard and rear grip strap with 1-piece plain wood grip. Brass bead front sight and hammer notched rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, rear grip strap, cyl. base pin, cyl. (faint on rear), bbl., as well as the bbl. wedge. CONDITION: metal components have faded to a mottled gray patina, exhibiting light pitting and some superficial handling marks overall. Bbl. (below loading lever) and bbl. wedge (protected areas) exhibit some traces of original bluing. Bore is relatively bright, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of mild oxidation and pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, with tight cyl. lock up. Grip shows scattered marks and some impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound.
