REVOLVER. Cal. originally 45 Colt, rechambered to .45 Boxer. S#. 217, extremely low S# indicating mfg. during the first year of production. Bbl. original 5 1/2" with Hartford address which is followed by "DEPOT 14 PALL MALL, LONDON" marking. Bbl. is fitted with an ejector. Long flute 6 shot cyl. The chambers show evidence of reaming. A small "B" under the caliber marking on the left front of the trigger guard indicates re-chambering to .45 Boxer, also known as .45 Adams. Two piece checkered round butt walnut grips with original swiveling lanyard loop. Bbl., frame, loading gate, and cyl. have matching S# "217". Mfg. 1878, total of 51,210 mfg. 1878-1905. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: consignor supplied typed info. pertaining to the Model 1878 revolvers. CONDITION: metal has largely faded to gray showing spots of light pitting with areas of small dents on both sides of the frame. Grips show moderate wear. Action will not cock or cycle properly in SA mode. Gun will cycle in DA mode. Cyl. exhibits excessive play. Lightly pitted bore retains intact rifling. (01-28154/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,250-3,750.
