WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 38 Colt. S# 2991. Bbl. 6". Model 1889 Navy double action revolver originally mfg. by Colt in 1889 and subsequently converted to the Model 1895 configuration between 1896-1899. Left side of bbl. is marked "COLT. D.A. 38", with Colt's mfg. information above "PATENTED AUG.5.1884 NOV.6.88. MAR.5.95." marked across the top. Butt is marked "U.S.N./ (ANCHOR)/ .38D.A./ No/ 2991/ P/ W.K.K./ 1889". Cyl. latch and rear face of cyl. exhibit a "T" within a triangle proof mark. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt checkered hard rubber grips. Interior of left grip panel is hand scribed "King //2" below the assembly number "3029", with "E.L.K. //2" below the assembly number on the interior of the right panel. Grips are slightly undersized, appearing to be off of a New Army / New Navy revolver. Matching assembly numbers are present on the frame, cyl. crane, and cyl. latch. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster embossed "USN" within an oval on the closure flap. CONDITION: metal components retain scant traces of their arsenal blue finish, with the balance exhibiting a dark mottled gray patina, with areas of light to mild pitting overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting some light pitting and surface oxidation throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing with some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Interior of left grip panel exhibits a crack at the center that does not appear to effect serviceability. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting age related cracking, with flaking and crazing present overall. (24-1068/MLW). ANTIQUE. $300-400.
