Cal. 38 Colt. S# 67242. Bbl. 6". Model 1901 New Army double action revolver originally mfg. by Colt in 1895 and subsequently converted into the Model 1901 configuration. Left side of bbl. is marked "COLT. D.A.38", with Colt's mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Left side of frame is stamped with an "R.A.C." (Rinaldo A. Carr) inspector proof, which is also present on the rear face of the cyl., underside of bbl., as well as on the bottom of the grips. Metal components exhibit a lustrous high police blue finish, with the trigger exhibiting a nitre blued finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips. Half-moon blade front sight with "U" frame notched rear sight. Matching assembly numbers are present on the frame, cyl. crane, cyl., and cyl. latch. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their period arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, scattered handling marks, as well as scattered areas that exhibit varying degrees of pitting.
