WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 38 Colt. S# 207794. Bbl. 6". Model 1903 New Army double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1903. Left side of bbl. is marked "COLT. D.A. 38", with Colt's mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Left side of frame is stamped with a "J.E.H." (Jay. E. Hoffer) and "R.A.C." (Rinaldo A. Carr) inspector proofs, with "1904" stamped down by the grip. Metal components exhibit a lustrous blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips, which are also stamped with "R.A.C." inspector proofs. Half-moon blade front sight with "U" frame notched rear sight. Butt with lanyard loop. All assembly numbers are matching and include the frame, cyl. crane, and cyl. latch, with the grips also matching via a handwritten assembly number in pencil on the interior of the panels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather "US" embossed holster marked "6F26" and with inspector initials "E.D." on the closure flap, with "ROCK ISLAND/ ARSENAL/ 1904/ T.C." marked on the rear of the belt loop. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their period arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, some scattered handling marks, and scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting what appears to be a few small scattered spots of light surface oxidation, and retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood grips exhibit some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Holster exhibits some scattered marks from handling and storage, with scattered areas of age related cracking and a few small spots of mild crazing present overall. (24-1063/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
