Cal. 45 ACP. S# 400091. Bbl. 5" incorrect Colt Type 6 marked "COLT45 AUTO" by left leg plus "P" on left leg & "G" in front of legs (also by disconnector); used from S# 710000 to end of production. Mfg. May to Oct. of 1918 in single largest Army contract of both wars; 347,000 units. Slide has rampant Colt at midpoint of left side. U notch rear sight, semi circular front sight & "H" provisional mark at rear of appropriately unnumbered slide. Type C beavertail hammer w/ bordered checkering. Slide stop (w/ undercut) & safety tab (w/out undercut) both checkered; correct for model. Short commercial style checkered trigger. "H" provisional mark by disconnector. Eagle "14" frame proof. Spring plug w/ round detent. Spring guide w/ blunt legs. Flat mainspring housing w/ bent lanyard loop. 1911A1 grip safety. Fully checkered walnut grips. MAGS: 1 fair unmarked 2 tone 7 rd. w/ cleaned light to moderate pitting. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: very nice brown US flap holster by Sears dated 1942; light verdigris around rivets & stud. CONDITION: good appearance w/ contours & markings well defined. Slight high point & function wear. Noticeable wear & finish loss on slide having gray toned appearance. Better appearing frame w/ peppery oxidation on front strap & hand wear at rear. Bright mark on right side of hammer from contacting ill fitting extractor. Near excellent bbl. exterior w/ light wear on lugs & very light wear at port area. Very good grips w/ couple of diamond top marks on right & light mark around upper left grip screw. Very good plus bore w/ hint of frosting in grooves. (23-368/NW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
