Cal. 38 Long Colt. S# 6924. Bbl. 6" w/ integral half-moon sight blade & “MAR 5, 95” patent date; frame notched rear. Mfg. 1892 w/unusual combination of features. Butt w/out lanyard swivel or markings. Frame yoke numbered 6924 as is cyl. latch. Crane numbered 1878. Left side of frame above grip marked “R.A.C.” as is rear of cyl. Directly above left grip is “L.E.S.” (upside down). Usual grips for period were variations of Colt's checkered hard rubber; later production had checkered walnut as this does w/ gold medallions. Fire blued trigger plus edges of hammer (in the white sides). CONDITION: fair to good general appearance w/ scattered peppery oxidation throughout original finish. Patina in grip area. Fair grips w/ noticeable wear, protruding screw & proud of frame at front. Good to very good bright bore w/ cleaned faint pitting. Mechanical functioning occasionally fails to rotate cyl. & noticeably out of time. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Jack Verret Sr. (01-20905/NW). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
