Cal. 38 WCF. S# 14581. Bbl. 5 1/2". New Service double action revolver, mfg. by Colt in 1906. Left side of the bbl. is marked "NEW SERVICE 38 W.C.F.", with Colt's 2-line address and patent information marked over the top. The left side of the frame is marked "COLT'S" above the Rampant Colt logo between two Maltese crosses and "NEW SERVICE". Metal components exhibit a lustrous high polished blue finish, with the trigger and rear strap of the hammer exhibiting a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece "COLT" checkered black hard rubber grips. Clipped blade front sight, with frame notched rear sight. All numbers are matching and include the frame, cyl. crane, as well as the grips (inscribed on the interior of the panels). CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear that show through to gray patina, some scattered handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light to mild pitting and oxidation. Bbl. exhibits losses to the finish (likely the result of cleaned oxidation) that show through to brown patina. Nitre blue parts show some areas of wear through to gray patina. Very bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as some scattered marks and nicks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-5648/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
