Cal. 44-40. S# 325208. Bbl. 7 1/2". New Service double-action revolver, mfg. by Colt in 1926. Left side of the bbl. is marked "NEW SERVICE 44-40", with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo and the "VP" proof. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece "COLT" checkered black hard rubber grips. Interior of grips are inscribed with a matching S# to the frame. Clipped point blade front sight (with added brass tip on rear face), with frame notched rear sight. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as scattered areas of oxidation overall. Bright bore, exhibiting mild oxidation and pitting while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show mild smoothing, as well as a few scattered handling marks, with the left grip exhibiting a crack stemming from the frame stud at the bottom of the panel. (24-4102/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
