REVOLVER WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 45 Colt. S# 328067. Bbl. 7 1/2". New Service Target Model double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1931. The left side of the bbl. is marked "NEW SERVICE 45 COLT", with Colt's mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Left side of frame exhibits the Rampant Colt logo and "VP" proof. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt silver medallion checkered wood grips. Adjustable bead front sight with adjustable dovetailed square notch rear sight. Checkered grip straps and trigger face. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory letter indicating that this example was the sole revolver sold to National Livestock Company (address unavailable) and shipped to Morrow Thomas Hardware Company in Amarillo, TX on June 16th of 1931. Factory letter also indicates "Furnished with a bead front sight." under "Special Features:". CONDITION: metal components retain traces of their blue finish, exhibiting wear overall that shows through to brown patina, with some light pitting overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Checkered wood grips exhibit smoothing and some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (23-5169/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
