(PARTS MODEL) REVOLVER.
Cal. 45 ACP. S# 337164. Bbl. 5 1/2" having fin shaped (Civilian style) sight blade; 1905 last patent date & "NEW SERVICE 45 COLT" on left side. Mfg. 1933 in lot of approx. 1,000 (S# 336450-337500) using left over parts & referred to as "Model 1917 Civilian / Commercial Parts Model" by collectors. Multiple conflicting features and changes found only in this model. After 1930, walnut grips were standard; checkered hard rubber (reproductions) with Colt logo on this revolver. In 1926, that year was added to bbl. patent dates plus top strap became flattened & stippled along w/ square sight notch; this top strap is curved & plain but squared notch. Although marked "45 Colt" the cal. is 45 ACP. Checkered trigger became standard in 1929 yet has smooth faced trigger. Cyl. latch is squared & checkered model rather than rounded style adopted 1928. Lanyard loops were standard; but has 2 plain (not tapped) 1/8" holes 7/16" on center starting 1/2" from backstrap. Front hole is not at center (to rear by 1/16") of butt as lanyard loop hole would be. Ejector rod head is checkered w/ grooved band & not cross drilled. VP proof on left front of trigger guard & "3" at left rear plus "B1" on left side of frame under grip. CONDITION: very good appearance of original finish. Thinning at typical high points plus grip area. Slight peppery oxidation on some edges such as trigger guard. Sm. displacement of metal at top left rear of frame plus left edge of butt along w/ light impact mark at junction of backstrap & butt. Slight uneven fit of grips at butt plus imperfections around screw bushings. Aftermarket full threaded grip screw. Black plastic chip repair by left locating pin. Frame screws have had improper screwdriver use. Very nice proper mechanical functioning. Very good bright bore w/ appearance of leading in grooves. (22-6058/NW). CURIO. $750-1,000.
