Cal. 455 Eley / 45 LC. S# 114781. Bbl. 7 1/2". Pinned blade bead front sight w/ windage adj. U notch rear sight. Six shot fluted 455 Eley cyl. is installed on revolver. A second 45 LC cyl. is included. Blue finished w/ polished hammer sides. Early flat style cyl. latch. Trigger & grip straps are checkered. Bbl., frame & cyl. have British proof marks. Fancy checkered walnut square butt grips w/ rampant colt medallions. Approx. 3,400 mfg. 1900-40. Estimated 960 were chambered in cal. 455 Eley. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt Industries letter dated October 2nd, 1989 states they were unable to locate the shipping record or any information pertaining to this revolver. A typed letter from a St. Paul, Minnesota Colt collector relays the history of this gun as first belonging to Dr. Emmet O. Swanson, a dentist from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Swanson was stationed in England during WWII & was a competitive shooter. The letter further confirms 2 later owners. Also included are photo copies from the September 1931 American Rifleman w/ a photo of shooters including Dr. Swanson titled "Bisley 1931". Revolver is housed in a Huey custom oak & leather case w/ red leather fitted interior designed to hold 3 double action revolvers. Case lid has a Colt Firearms label. Ebony handled accessories include brush, brass cleaning rod & turn screw. Case also holds spare cyl., colt screwdriver, standard cyl. latch & case key. CONDITION: over 98% original blue showing a faint cyl. drag line. Grips show a few small marks. Very good bright bore. PROVENANCE: From the lifelong Collection of Jim Williams. (24-2622/DS).
