REVOLVER WITH ROPER GRIPS & SIGHTS. Cal. 38 Spl. S# 616695. Bbl. 5 15/16". Officers Model .38 Heavy Barrel double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1950. Left side of the bbl. is marked "OFFICERS MODEL 38/ HEAVY BARREL" (both lines with Maltese crosses), with Colt's 2-line mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with the top strap of the frame exhibiting a matte blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood Roper grips, the left panel featuring a thumbrest. Unmarked Roper adj. patridge blade front sight with Roper adj. square notch rear sight. Checkered trigger and backstrap. Matching numbers are present on the frame and cyl. crane. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting light to mild edge wear, some light superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of mild dark surface oxidation and light to mild pitting predominately on the right side of the frame, cyl., and bbl. Mirror bore, exhibiting a couple of small spots of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show a few superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain very good overall. (25-5111/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
