Cal. 45 Colt. S# 4159. Between 1896 & 1903, many cavalry model revolvers were arsenal reworked & refinished w/ bbls. shortened to 5 1/2". Parts were reassembled randomly & rarely will one be found w/ matching serial numbers. Bbl. arsenal shortened 5 1/2" w/ blade sight. Six shot fluted cyl. Blue & case colored finish. Frame is serial number "4159". Trigger guard is serial number "31569". Backstrap is serial number "720". Bbl. is serial numbered "2431". Bottom of bbl. has inspector's mark "J.T.C." followed by initial "H". Cyl. is unnumbered w/ inspector's mark "P". 1 piece walnut grips w/ inspector's mark "RAC" at butt of panel. CONDITION: bbl., ejector, cyl. & grip straps retain 85% lightly faded blue showing carry & edge wear. Frame & hammer retain 70% lightly faded case colors. Refinished grips show scattered marks.
