Cal. 45 ACP. S# 705652. Bbl. 5". Shipped June 5, 1924 (1,000 units) to Springfield Armory. Per factory letter, transitional features of 1911 A1 to include: trigger guard relief cuts, trigger, grip safety & mainspring housing. Most correct transitional model features including 1911 marked slide, 60 assembly # on trigger guard, full checkered walnut grips, WTG proof & Colt type 5 bbl. Type 3 arched mainspring housing w/ lanyard loop & coarse checkering having 27 diamonds rather than 32. Thumb safety & slide lock checkered w/out milled undercut. Harrison's reference book states "P" proofs not present yet "P" is on slide & very faint on frame (only vertical line visible). H provisional acceptance mark only on top of frame; missing on bbl. & slide. No S# under firing pin stop. MAGS: very good 7 rd. 2 tone Model 1911 w/out lanyard loop by American Pin Co. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Oct. 24, 2018 factory research letter. CONDITION: very good overall, original Colt brushed blue finish w/ holster like high point wear plus hand wear. Flaking appearance & light marks on front strap & top left front of slide. Light oxidation on sides of frame along outside edges of grips; not visible unless grips removed. Noticeable exterior bbl. wear w/ gray tone; very good bore w/ faint frosting & hint of wear. Occasional light marks & sm. scattered spots of peppery oxidation plus light impact marks on right rear corner of slide. Good to very good grips w/ some flattening of diamond tops plus worn finish on screws. (21-18/NW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
