REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Colt. S# 102065. Bbl. 6". U.S. Army Model of 1901 double-action revolver mfg. by Colt. Left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT D.A. 38," with Colt's 2-line mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with an "R.A.C." (Rinaldo A. Carr) inspection proof, which is also present on the cyl., bbl., and grips. Butt is marked "U.S./ ARMY/ MODEL/ 1901" above the S#. Metal components exhibit a high-polish blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips. Half-moon blade front sight with frame notched rear sight. Lanyard swivel on butt is present. Matching assembly # "2065" is present on the frame, cyl. crane, and cyl. latch. Interior of the left grip panel is faintly marked with a matching assembly # in pencil. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as areas of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show wear and smoothing, as well as some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-6499/MLW). CURIO. $400-600.
