REVOLVER WITH BOX. Cal. 38 Colt. S# 65784. Bbl. 6". U.S. Army Model of 1901 double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1895. The left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT D.A. 38", with Colt's 2-line mfg. and patent information marked across the top, and "1755" marked on the bottom. Left side of the frame is marked with an "R.A.C." (Rinaldo A. Carr) inspection proof, which is repeated on the rear face of the cyl. Butt is marked "U.S./ ARMY/ MODEL/ 1901/ No/ 65/ 784". Metal components exhibit a nicely reapplied blue finish overall, with the trigger and rear strap of the hammer exhibiting a reheated nitre blue finish. Sides of hammer are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips which have been sanded and refinished. Left panel is marked "1900" above a boxed inspector cartouche, with boxed "RAC" cartouche marked on the right, with markings seemingly having been reapplied. Fixed half-moon blade front sight with frame U-notch rear sight. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: non-matching reproduction cardboard box. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied lustrous blue finish overall. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips are very good, as sanded and refinished. Box is very good overall. (25-4572). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
