REVOLVER WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 54637. Bbl. 5 1/2". U.S. Model of 1917 double action revolver mfg. by Colt circa. 1918. The left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT D.A. 45", with Colt's mfg. and patent information across the top, and "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marked across the bottom. Left side of frame is marked with a "JMG" (J.M. Gilbert) inspector proof, above a hand-scribed "R.G.C." and the Rampant Colt logo. Metal components exhibit a dull blue military finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips. Clip point blade front sight with frame notched rear sight. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster mfg. marked "G&K./ 1917/ A.G." on the rear. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority large amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, some scattered handling marks, as well as areas of light surface oxidation overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting some light oxidation and retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, with a crack present at the top right corner of the right grip panel. Holster exhibits usual wear, with areas of age related cracking and crazing present overall. Brass components exhibit varying degrees of verdigris, consistent with age. (24-1113/MLW). CURIO. $300-400.
