Cal. 38 Colt. S# 127981. Bbl. 6" with blade sight and 2 line Hartford address ending with March 5, 1895 patent date. Fluted 5 shot cylinder rotates counter clockwise. Blue finish. Butt is marked "U.S. / ARMY / MODEL / 1901 / No / 127 / 981". Bottom of barrel, cylinder latch, inside of frame and crane have matching number "7981". Cylinder latch is has inspector mark "K". Rear of cylinder is marked with "RAC", "C" and "K" inspection marks and number "6580". Bottom of barrel also has "RAC" inspection mark referring to sub inspector Rinaldo A. Carr. 2 Piece walnut grips, bottom of both panels have "RAC" inspection marks. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter providing the following information: "COLT NEW ARMY REVOLVER / Serial Number: 127981 / Caliber: .38/c / Barrel Length: 6" / Finish: Blue / Type of Stocks: Not Listed / Sold To: United States Government / Shipped To: Lt. Col. Frank H. Phipps / Address: Unavailable / Date of Shipment: October 19, 1899 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 450". CONDITION: 60% blue showing wear with numerous scratches, marks and spots of corrosion. Grips show heavy wear and handling marks. Action is in time. Bright bore retaining strong rifling.
