ENGRAVED PISTOL. Cal. 22 LR. S# 142769-S. Bbl. 6" w/ full lug. ramp mounted Patridge front sight w/ adj. square notch Accro rear sight. Frame, slide & bbl. have 50% coverage of fine hand engraved foliate scroll w/ punch dot backgrounds by Thomas J. Kaye with "TJK" at left rear of frame. "Tommy" was a founding charter member of the Firearms Engravers' Guild of America in 1981 and was most prolific in 1980's and 1990's (1938-2015). Standard Colt checkered RH thumbrest walnut grips (likely replacements; originals were checkered plastic). Mfg. 1955. MAGS: 1 Detachable factory 10 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from the Office of the Colt Historian detailing the following information, "Serial Number: 142769-S / Caliber: .22/c / Barrel Length: 6" / Finish: Blue / Type of stocks: Not Listed / Shipped To: Kruse Hardware Company / Address: Sixth & Baymiller Street Cincinnati, Ohio / Date of Shipment: May 17, 1955 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 3. Colt marked walnut presentation box w/ red velour fitted interior & 50 rd wood cartridge block. Case key is included. Very good original brown hinged box with green interior; no number on box but correct label. Original test target and 1-54 dated manual (both oil stained) plus blued Colt 3 bladed key chain screwdriver and factory serrated brown plastic arched back strap adapter. CONDITION: over 99% fine quality reblued finish. Light hand wear to grips. Bright near excellent bore. PROVENANCE: from the Collection of Gun Sport Ltd. owned by Jon R. Thomas. (23-3892/DS).
